The New Bankruptcy Surge  is a comprehensive study of the personal bankruptcy problem.  The increase in filings from 2007 to 2010 was the largest for any 3-year period in history.

   The study examines the new and changed drivers that correlate with increased filings now but didn't in the past.  It includes detailed local market analysis and correlations addressing all the prime drivers of bankruptcy:  Unemployment, falling home values, divorce rates, health insurance and medical bills, subprime lending, loss of stigma, wage garnishment rules, gambling, and more.

     The study includes our forecast for filings in 2011, while separate sections rank states and 379 metro areas by filing rates as well as recent filings growth rates.
