This study presents the results from the Census Bureau’s American Housing Survey regarding home improvement projects.  SMR analyzed the raw interview results from more 28,000 home owners who participated in the home improvement portion of the survey.  The main study summarizes our findings on each of 44 types of projects, including total national spending on each, plus demographics on people who make improvements and those who don’t.  Separately, we have created 23 Research Modules, each of which provides greater detail on specific types of improvement work.  Published in August, 2002.
